Plants are a very positive addition to your kitchen. If you have a window in your kitchen and the available counter space, add a bit of life with a plant. If you cant remember to water them, set an alarm on your cell phone once a week that says to water plants. Everybody has a cell phone now a day and uses the alarm or calendar features on them quite frequently. A plant doesnt only look beautiful, but it cleans the air of the pollution and gives you oxygen in the atmosphere. A kitchen rug can be a great solution for a kitchen that has damaged or worn out floors. These rugs can also help keep someone from slipping on the floor when it is wet and is an added comfort when you are standing for a long period of time in front of the counter, stove, or sink. Rugs are often placed at the front door whenever you come in, in front of the refrigerator or even in front of the sink for extra comfort while you do the dishes.
Before shopping for a kitchen rug, you must make a note of a few things so that you can buy the best possible item for your kitchen. The Kitchen Rugs should be of a washable material or completely water proof. This is because that unlike any other carpet or rugs in the house this is the most likely to get dirty because of all the oil and grease and smoke from the kitchen and it is all but natural that fruit juice, oily gravy or water can spill on to it at any time. Hence, before looking for any other characteristics, this should be taken care of.
You also need to take care of colors when you are washing these rugs. If you wash both the light and dark colors together, there are chances that their color would get mixed and result in a spoiled look for both types. Dark colors must be washed at a low warm, delicate temperature less than 90 degrees Fahrenheit and wash the light colors at a temperature higher than 105 degree Fahrenheit. For efficient cleaning, dont forget to rinse kitchen rugs when washing. If your kitchen rugs are unusually delicate, rinse with care and dont make their fibers strip off. And also, you need to hang these rugs for drying instead of tumble drying them.
You should sit in the middle of these two types of people. If you use something almost everyday, such as a coffee pot or your food processor every night with supper, then keep it out. On the other hand if your new state of the art blender is only being used once a week or only for the holidays find a home for it within your cabinet space hidden below the scenes. Remember though that items that you have on top of your counter can also be clustered into categories that are relative to their function. If in the morning you make toast and coffee, and then have them plugged into the same outlets as they will make lovely companions to each other. If youre a mother that cooks every night, your food processor and electric can opener would make another great cluster with the same outlet.
As has already been discussed, kitchen area rugs arent just there for decorative reasons and do have their uses. Clearly, time spent trying to wash and dry your rug is going to mean a period of some inconvenience, and its usually during the colder months when mud and dirt is most likely to be trodden in that its hardest to find room for large rugs to dry. Do take the time to check that label to make sure a rug is machine washable before you buy, and youll save yourself a lot of hassle in the long run. Its sometimes tempting to put a non-machine washable rug into the washing machine, and this must be avoided at all costs, even if you feel replacement will be your only remaining choice because the rug has become so dirty anyway.
